Markets react to US sub prime lending

Stock markets reacted sharply to US bank lending in the sub prime housing market. The UK market has concerns that some of the UK banks could be effected due to loan defaults and some smaller US banks going under.
The freefall in the US non conforming market is impacting on the desirability of the UK market with potential knock on effects on securities.
